CELEBRATE! INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2024

It's International Women's Day!
March 8th of every year we have the opportunity to reflect on the women that have passed through our lives at one point or another or who we are close to on a daily basis.

How are they an inspiration to us?
How do they motivate others?

What is it they do that you would like to emulate in your own life?

Celebrate the Women in your life!

Every year I like to take a few moments to feature remarkable women in around our area and that have a special bond with myself and/or My Ol' Blues.
Here are this years 2024, exceptional 4!
Theresia Phiri

Theresia is the founder and CEO, of Timeless Beauty Spa, located in Gore Bay, Ontario

She opened her doors in 2021, offering a multitude of health and beauty treatments. She enjoys sharing her passion for care and giving to others.

Theresia, recently expanded her business to a new, welcoming environment located in the "old firehall" at 8 Dawson St. Gore Bay.

She was also recognized for being one of the top 100,000 spas on the Fresha Platform.

Congratulations Theresia! I look forward to your warm smile and delightful, caring personality at my appointment in a couple weeks.

  Heather Jefkins

Well known local elementary school teacher, Heather Jefkins will be celebrating a milestone this coming June. Heather has chosen to retire from the teaching profession after 30 years.

Many of you know Heather personally, as a fellow teacher, parent, student and our summer student, Bella's mom!

She has many accomplishments to her name including a Canadian History award presented by the Governor General of Canada and a unique school program she developed with the Canadian Armed Forces linking her children, their "Flat Stanley" and a member of the forces.
Kudos to you, Heather!

She will be definitely missed by our Rainbow District School Board and many upcoming students.

In her free time she is a busy beautiful knitter and has learned other crafts such as beadwork and moccasin making. I am sure there won't be a dull moment in retirement!

May you have the opportunity to travel, continue to learn and enjoy the next chapter of your life starting this summer!

 Danielle Simms

Danielle Simms, is the owner/operator of The Totem Pole Trading Post in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

I have never personally met Danielle, but we have talked and emailed over the years. The Totem Pole has been a customer of My Ol' Blues since 2001.

Recently, Danielle received a Digital Main Street Marketing Grant to further move her business into the 21st century. I am very excited for her!

It will be a learning curve, but like all motivated women entrepreneurs she will grasp the new skills quickly and master the digital world in no time.
Then say, why didn't I do this sooner?

If you are in the Sault Ste. Marie area, stop into The Totem Pole, located at 1340 Great Northern Road. They have a wide variety of Canadiana products and something for everyone!

Good Luck Danielle!
Alison Antonio
If you are wondering why the name sounds familiar, it is because Alison is my daughter-in-law.
Ali, is a remarkable young woman, who has the energy of several of us all rolled up into a fire cracker.
Alison is a Physiotherapist Assistant with St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Centre in Sudbury.
She is now a teacher at Cambrian College as well. A few years back she found there was education lacking in her field and developed a program to fill this missing link. It is a process and still developing, but she now instructs the 1st course at Cambrian.
She is a dedicated mom to my 2 beautiful grandchildren and a wonderful encouraging, supportive wife/life partner to my son Luke.
In her spare time she is a Tim Bit Hockey coach, hockey player, bicyclist, and overall health enthusiast. She always loves new adventures with her family and friends.
I am so very proud you, Alison! A remarkable young woman for all up and coming women to look up to!
