We are celebrating Small Business Week in Canada... pass the word along

Hmm...is that not Bonnie in Manhattan with the iconic Empire State Building in the background?

Yes it is! Bonnie Kogos is a big voice in a petite body. She has a close attachment to Canada and as many of us know, a deep love for Manitoulin Island and our surrounding Northern communities.

She shops local on a yearly basis, writes about our many local businesses in her Sudbury Star column, "Window Seat" and can be seen at every event scheduled during her many visits.

They say "word-of-mouth" is the best bang for your buck and Bonnie has proven that to be true, time and time again!

Thank you Bonnie - We love you!

How can our customers celebrate Small Business Week? you ask...

Customers can participate in Small Business Week by making purchases, leaving positive reviews, sharing on social media, signing up for loyalty programs, and attending local events.

These actions provide direct financial support and amplify a business's reach and credibility through word-of-mouth marketing.

 Direct support Shop and spend:
Make a conscious effort to buy from local and independent businesses instead of larger corporations.

Use cash or debit:
Pay with cash or debit to avoid credit card processing fees that can disproportionately affect small businesses.

Buy gift cards:
Purchase gift cards for future use or as gifts. Join loyalty programs: Sign up for loyalty programs, as members often generate more revenue for the business.

Promotion and advocacy Share on social media:
Follow businesses on social media and engage with their content by liking, sharing, and commenting. Use a branded hashtag to help the business track mentions.

Leave online reviews:
Write positive reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, or Facebook, as this builds social proof and helps with online visibility.

Tell friends and family:
Spread the word about your favorite local spots through word-of-mouth, which is a powerful and trusted form of marketing.

 Engagement Attend local events:
Participate in any local events, workshops, or webinars that businesses may be hosting to celebrate the week.

Thank the owners and staff: Express your gratitude in person or online for the work that goes into running the business.

Participate in promotions: Take part in any special sales, contests, or giveaways that businesses are offering.

A message from the MOB BOSS...
It's Autumn 2025 all ready!

I just get lost in my days...

Fall is always a busy time at My Ol' Blues... it's like the home stretch to the end of the year!

I would like to take this opportunity to address our online shipping hiatus to the USA.
As of August 29th, the de minimis exemption was eliminated which allowed commercial shipments of $800 or less to the USA to be duty and tax exempt.
Since this date, more paperwork is required to prove CUSMA compliant as well as post brokerage fees now being incurred over and above regular shipping costs.

It is not feasible at this time for My Ol' Blues to continue this service.
If or when this changes, we will once again welcome purchases from our US customers.
